Unmarried couples do not have the same rights on relationship breakdown as married couples. The rights of people living together whether outside of marriage or a civil partnership, are governed by the following areas:
- Property Law; and
- The Children Act , Schedule 1, and the Child Support Act 1989 in relation to provision for children
